Triumph has launched its new entry-level motorcycle in India: the Speed T4. It is, in fact, a ‘tamer’ and cheaper version of the Speed 400, offering more modest but very competitive performance, to compete with 250-350cc motorcycles.

To make it cheaper than its ‘sister’ Speed 400, Triumph tweaked the 398cc single-cylinder engine, reducing power and torque, but delivering maximum numbers in a lower rpm range.

The Speed T4’s engine produces 31 hp of maximum power at 7,000 rpm, and 36 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. Just for comparison, the same engine that powers the Speed 400 produces 40 hp at 8,000 rpm, and 37.5 Nm at 6,500 rpm.

triumph speed t4

So for many people, the new Speed T4 is a much more friendly bike for daily urban use, offering convincing performance with good torque at low revs.

Other items that were changed to keep costs down were the front suspension, which is traditional and not Upside Down like the Speed 400, the traction control, which is not equipped on the new bike, and the tires, which are no longer radial and have a thinner profile. In addition, the seat received an extra layer of foam to make it even more comfortable.

Otherwise, it remains the same bike and with the same quality present in other Triumph products. It has full-LED lighting, analog-digital panel, 6-speed gearbox, assisted and slipper clutch, disc brakes on both wheels, and dual-channel ABS.

triumph speed t4

The new 2025 Triumph Speed T4 is sold in India starting at INR 217,000 (approximately US$ 2,600). The 2025 model of the Speed 400, meanwhile, is priced starting at INR 240,000 (approximately US$ 2,867).

Anyway, there are no plans to sell this model in other countries.

]]>
The worldwide success of Triumph‘s T-Series range shows that the company is on the right track, as its 400cc bikes are performing very well in their categories.

Currently composed of the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X, the line should gain, in 2025, at least two more members, according to rumors: the Tiger 400 and the Thruxton 400.

A little background: The T-Series range was developed in partnership between Triumph and Bajaj in India. The new models are the British manufacturer’s first mid-size single-cylinder models. After being launched in the Asian country in 2023, they were launched worldwide in 2024.

The Thruxton 400 would be the next motorcycle to be launched. With a sportier feel and café racer style, the model would be an alternative for those who want a motorcycle with these features, but at an affordable price.

triumph speed 400 and scrambler 400 x
Triumph Scrambler 400X and Speed 400

The other bet would be the Tiger 400. This model makes a lot of sense, since the Tiger line is the British company’s most successful and, currently, is made up of the Tiger 900, Tiger 1200, Tiger 850 Sport and Tiger Sport 660 models.

If it does indeed launch, the Tiger 400 would also be a huge success, as it would offer plenty of adventure-oriented performance in a compact and affordable package. Furthermore, it would not have much competition, as both Honda and Yamaha, for example, do not have a model with these 350-450cc characteristics.

Today, it would compete in the market, mainly, with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. Other models could also rival the Tiger 400, but we believe they would lose in terms of performance due to their inferior engine, such as the Kawasaki Versys X-300 and the BMW G 310 GS.

Both Yamaha and Honda do not have a model to compete with the Tiger 400, although the latter has the CB 500X (which is being replaced by the NX 500), but it is a crossover, not a pure adventure bike.

Anyway, it’s only a matter of time before we have a few more Triumph models on its T-Series platform, with 400cc engines and an affordable price.

Each model in this collection boasts a hand-painted design on the tank that transforms under different lighting conditions, creating a mesmerizing visual effect.

The painting process of the Stealth Editions is a work of art in itself. It begins with a base layer of mirror-finish metallic ‘Silver Ice,’ followed by a meticulously applied dark to light ‘Sapphire Black’ graphite vignette. Multiple layers of translucent tinted lacquer are then added to achieve a deep and rich top coat.

The result is a transition from dark graphite to vibrant colors that come to life in the light, offering a unique look for each motorcycle due to subtle variations in the hand-painted finish.

Triumph has once again pushed the boundaries of innovation in the motorcycling world with the introduction of the revolutionary Active Preload Reduction feature for the 2024 Tiger 1200 range.

This groundbreaking enhancement further solidifies Triumph’s commitment to delivering exceptional performance and rider comfort.

The Tiger 1200 range, initially launched in November 2021, has already left an indelible mark on the adventure motorcycling scene. Now, with the introduction of the Active Preload Reduction feature, Triumph has set a new standard for rider convenience and accessibility.

One of the notable challenges for riders, especially those with a shorter inseam, has been the seat height of adventure motorcycles. Triumph has addressed this challenge head-on by developing the Active Preload Reduction feature, a significant advancement incorporated into the advanced Showa semi-active suspension system of the Tiger 1200 range.

So, what exactly is the Active Preload Reduction feature? In essence, this cutting-edge technology dynamically reduces the rear suspension preload as the Tiger 1200 comes to a stop. This reduction in preload translates to a lowered seat height, providing riders with enhanced stability and confidence, especially when the motorcycle is stationary.

The Tiger 1200 range already offers multiple seat height settings to accommodate various rider preferences. However, the Active Preload Reduction feature takes this customization to the next level. With this feature, riders can experience an even lower seat height than before, improving their connection with the ground and making maneuvering at slow speeds more manageable.

triumph active preload reduction

Triumph has carefully engineered the Active Preload Reduction feature to be intuitive and user-friendly. New customers can engage this feature effortlessly by pressing the ‘Home’ button on the switch cube for just one second. This small yet impactful action activates the preload reduction, allowing riders to experience the benefits without any complexity.

Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent emphasizes the impact of this innovation, stating, “The new Tiger 1200 range is already a global success… This new feature can be enabled on the fly, lowering the centre of gravity at slower speeds, making it even more accessible, offering riders more confidence at slow speeds and better contact with the ground as they come to a stop.”

Triumph’s commitment to rider inclusivity doesn’t stop with new customers. Existing Tiger 1200 owners can also benefit from this enhancement. The Active Preload Reduction feature will be made available to them through their dealer at their next service, ensuring that all riders can enjoy the latest advancements.

The Tiger 1200 range itself is a testament to Triumph’s dedication to crafting exceptional motorcycles. Designed to be the epitome of capability and maneuverability in the adventure motorcycling segment, the Tiger 1200 range offers two distinct families: the GT family for road-focused adventures and the Rally family for all-terrain exploits.

In conclusion, Triumph’s introduction of the Active Preload Reduction feature is a game-changer for the adventure motorcycling community. By combining innovation, accessibility, and rider-centric design, Triumph has once again proven why it stands at the forefront of the industry.

Triumph has announced that it will participate in the FIM Motocross World Championship in 2024 with an official team, the Triumph Racing Team, created in partnership with Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni, one of the sport’s most experienced and successful team owners.

The partnership will put two of Triumph’s new 250cc 4-stroke MX bikes on track in the 2024 MX2 class and have yet another entry into the 450cc MXGP class in 2025.

Under the new Triumph Racing banner – which will cover all of Triumph’s racing-related activities, including Moto2 and Supersport racing – the partnership between Triumph and Thierry will encompass an already well-established and highly successful team structure and facilities.

Triumph Racing is located at Triumph’s global headquarters in Hinckley, UK, where the brand’s research, design, engineering development and prototype building are part of everyday life.

The Motocross World Championship team will be based at Thierry’s racing facility near Eindhoven, the Netherlands, where team racing, operations and competition development staff will be housed.

Testing of the new Triumph motocross and enduro bikes is ongoing and information on specifications, performance characteristics and components for each model will be released in due course, along with more news about Triumph Racing’s entry into other top-tier championships and categories.

Building on Triumph’s success as the sole engine supplier to the Moto2 World Championship and our participation in Supersport racing, the move into MX2 and MXGP opens the door on a strategically important new chapter in top-tier off-road racing. We well know the demands of World Championship competition and that is the reason for forming the partnership with Thierry. Ricky Carmichael – Global Off-Road Ambassador, Triumph: “I’m really excited about today’s news. It’s been a long time coming. Since the start of this project with Triumph, I have been amazed at just how hard everyone has been working. It must not go without mentioning, the whole R&D and engineering group that have been a part of the development of the motorcycles have done an absolutely incredible job. Triumph announced the completion of its TE-1 electric motorcycle project, and released the final test results of the prototype which, according to the company, exceeded the objectives.

The Triumph TE-1 project is a collaboration between Triumph Motorcycles, Williams Advanced Engineering, Integral Powertrain Ltd and WMG at the University of Warwick, funded by the UK Government’s Office for Zero Emission Vehicles, to create innovative developments in specialist electric motorcycle engineering, and innovative design of integrated technology.

The first data released was the real autonomy, which can reach 161 km with a charge in its lithium battery that has a capacity of 15kWh. This is, according to the company, superior to the real range of equivalent electric motorcycles available in the world today. In addition, another impressive data released is that the battery can be recharged in just 20 minutes (0 to 80%), which is a huge improvement over today.

The second data that caught the attention was the peak power of the model, which reaches up to 130 kW (177 HP). It is similar to the Speed Triple 1200 model, a motorcycle with a three-cylinder engine and 1200 cm³. With this, the company discloses that the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h happens in just 3.6 seconds. Furthermore, it is said that with the further refinement of the electronics, including the traction control system and front wheel lift control, performance can be further improved.

triumph te-1 electric motorcycle

Finally, the total weight of the model is 220 kg, about 25% less than comparable electric motorcycles currently available, which leaves it with a great power-to-weight ratio.

Design and conclusion

Official images of the TE-1 prototype show that Triumph’s electric bike will be very similar to conventional models, with a design similar to the Speed Triple 1200 RS.

It is very aggressive, with two LED headlights with a very intimidating look, and head down focused posture. In addition, the rear of the bike is extremely short, typical of ‘streetfighter’ models.

triumph electric motorcycle prototype

According to the company, Triumph’s future electric bike won’t be exactly like this prototype, but it will have the same ‘spirit’ and knowledge gained in the project.

Anyway, the company does not say when, in fact, it will be making an electric model available. But, with the completion of this project, we can estimate that it will be in one or two years, that is, until the end of 2024.

Triumph has announced the acquisition of OSET Bikes, a manufacturer of Trial, Off-road and Motocross electric motorcycles, which produces vehicles for both children and adults.

This is another step by the British company in the off-road world, before the launch of the Motocross and Enduro range. So far, the company has ‘naked’, adventurous and classic models.

Thus, this is also another step by the company in the electric segment, as it is developing a high-performance electric motorcycle, with the TE-1 prototype having carried out the last tests satisfactorily.

Started in 2004 by Ian Smith, who wanted to build an electric off-road motorcycle for his son Oliver, OSET has been setting the benchmark in its segment for the past 18 years. It has sold over 40,000 motorcycles worldwide with its in-house developed electric technology.

The acquisition of OSET is part of Triumph’s strategy to enter the off-road segment, announced in 2020, and offers both companies the opportunity to share and benefit from each other’s knowledge and experience in their respective segments, allowing two brands to grow internationally in parallel.

Triumph’s For The Ride philosophy played an important role in the acquisition of OSET as it allows the traditional brand based in Hinckley, England to inspire future generations of riders by providing them with the perfect starting point to develop their passion and dreams. OSET Bikes offers products suitable for any rider, from 3 years old.

oset bikes

“We are excited about the opportunity to join forces with OSET Bikes: a dynamic brand that has been encouraging kids to get involved in motorcycling for many years and has been at the forefront of developing electric motorcycles for fun and competition. While the two brands will continue to work independently, Triumph and OSET will collaborate on new, state-of-the-art products to inspire young off-road riders, in all segments where Triumph and OSET will be present, building on their respective strengths. strong to build the best motorcycles in the world,” says Nick Bloor, CEO of Triumph.

“When we built that first garage motorcycle for my son Oliver, I had no idea it would lead to this moment. We are all very excited about what the future holds for OSET as part of the Triumph family. The OSET brand will remain OSET and will continue to serve the off-road testing and motorcycling community. We are now better positioned to develop and innovate across our entire range, while enjoying the security of scale and market position that Triumph can bring to OSET,” explains Ian Smith, CEO of OSET Bikes.

ABOUT OSET BIKES

OSET Bikes was founded in 2004. The products are available from over 60 retailers across the UK and are exported to over 25 countries. It has offices in the United Kingdom, United States and Taiwan.

Its focus is on the youth market and offers seven electric motorcycles, with rims from 12.5 to 24.0 inches, and includes an electric motorcycle, the MX model.

OSET Cup events, which are designed to encourage kids to have fun on their motorcycles, are now available globally.

In 10 years, OSET Bikes has won the top five places in the “Youth National Trials Series” and has been a regular in races such as “Goodwood Festival of Speed, MotoGP”, “World Superbikes” and “Isle of Man TT”.

Triumph has announced the worldwide launch of the Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition, made in partnership with Swiss luxury watch brand Breitling.

The model arrives with a unique color scheme, superior detailing and finishes, custom instrument panel dials in the style of the watch design, and black perforated leather seat with stitched details.

Furthermore, only 270 units of this edition will be produced worldwide, but only 36 will be sold in the UK. Each bike features individually numbered handlebars and a certificate of authenticity signed by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor and Breitling CEO Georges Kern.

The price for this very limited edition is £16,000.00 in the UK, and you need to complete an Order Request to have the chance to secure one.

Breitling Top Time Triumph Watch

The watch features an eye-catching ice blue dial, which references both the polychromatic blue of the Limited Edition Speed Twin and a rare Breitling Top Time blue dial from the 1970s.

It is a high precision device for time reading, timing and tracking speed. The movement is from a COSC certified chronometer and the marker has superior accuracy.

In addition, two versions of the watch were released, with one reserved for owners of the Speed Twin Breitling Limited Edition and individually numbered to match the motorcycle’s edition number.

Finally, a detail that collectors will love: the back of the watch is engraved with a detailed design of Triumph’s iconic two-cylinder engine.

The Speed Twin

The new Triumph Speed Twin was launched mid-last year in Europe with more power and optimized peak torque, better handling, improved technology and even more style and premium bespoke details.

The 2021 Speed Twin received improvements to its 1200cc engine, which is capable of generating up to 100 HP of maximum power at 7,250 rpm and 112 Nm / 11.5 kgfm of torque at 4,250 rpm.

In addition, it has a superior spec 43mm inverted front suspension from Marzocchi, and Brembo M50 4-piston radial-mount brake calipers at the front, with 320mm discs also by Brembo.
