Ducati has launched in Europe the new 2025 Multistrada V2, its 890cc adventure motorcycle, which comes with a new design and is much lighter than the previous model.

BMW presented in Europe the F 450 GS concept, its 450cc adventure bike, which will give rise to a bike with the same characteristics to compete in the medium-displacement segment.

This segment seems to be the talk of the town for many brands. Triumph, for example, already has its 400cc single-cylinders, the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X. Another example is Royal Enfield, with its new Himalayan 450 and Guerrilla 450.

Now, the German company will produce the F 450 GS to fill a gap in its catalog, between the ‘small’ G 310 GS and the F 800 GS. According to the first data released, the new bike will follow more in the line of the F 800 GS, with a lot of off-road capability.

bmw f 450 gs

The design of the new bike is entirely based on its bigger ‘sister’ R 1300 GS, featuring modern and aggressive lines, and Full-LED lighting with the characteristic ‘X’ DRL at the front.

To stand out in the segment, BMW guarantees cutting-edge technological items that are even new to a low/medium displacement model. Highlights include the fully adjustable inverted front suspension and shock absorbers inspired by rally and enduro technologies.

The F 450 GS engine was developed from scratch, it is a 450cc parallel twin cylinder with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 48 hp of maximum power, and “excellent torque at low revs”, without specifying the numbers.

bmw f 450 gs

In terms of technology, the model will come with the advanced BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, configurable riding modes, and a 6.5-inch color TFT panel with Smartphone connection.

Anyway, BMW says it plans to launch the new F 450 GS in 2025.

Ducati has launched the 2025 model of the Multistrada V4 in Europe, its most extreme adventure crossover, which is even more refined, more comfortable, and even features technology used in MotoGP for automatic suspension lowering.

One of the highlights of the model is this lowering system called the ‘Automatic Lowering Device’. It quickly lowers the bike by up to 30 mm when the speed drops below 10 km/h.

When the rider accelerates again and the speed exceeds 50 km/h, the bike returns to its normal height, all done very quickly.

multistrada v4 2025

With this, shorter riders can be even more at ease, as maneuvering this tall bike is much easier and more comfortable.

Another highlight of the new Multistrada V4 is the extended deactivation of the rear cylinders, further reducing fuel consumption by up to 6%.

According to the company, the model already featured deactivation of the rear cylinders when the bike was stopped and idling. The new feature now is the extension of this feature to also when the bike is moving.

The cylinders are only reactivated after a certain speed or when a little more torque is required, depending on the position of the accelerator. This feature cannot be disabled and is present in all riding modes.

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 2025 (including the V4 S and Pikes Peak variants) will hit stores in October in three color options: Ducati Red, Thrilling Black and Arctic White.

In a breathtaking feat of endurance and off-road prowess, the new BMW R 1300 GS, equipped with Metzeler Karoo 4 tyres, has conquered the Nevado Ojos del Salado, the world’s highest active volcano.

The journey, spanning from sea level to a staggering altitude of 6,027 meters in less than 24 hours, unfolded on the challenging Circuito de los Seis Miles in the Atacama Desert, Chile.

Embarking from Bahia Inglesa, near the Pacific Ocean, the expedition showcased the remarkable capabilities of the standard BMW R 1300 GS models.

A noteworthy aspect of this accomplishment is that the expedition utilized standard motorcycles and standard tyres, pushing the boundaries of adventure riding. Riding on 19″ front and 17″ rear tyres, the BMW R 1300 GS demonstrated a new dimension in the world of adventure bikes.

The climb to Nevado Ojos del Salado presented a formidable challenge, demanding both physical and mental resilience from the riders. The harsh environment, with temperatures plummeting to -20 °C at night and low oxygen levels above 5,000 meters, required meticulous preparation. Base camps were set up at different altitudes, and simulations on Mount Etna in Sicily were conducted to acclimate to the conditions.

The Metzeler Karoo 4 tyres, chosen for their off-road prowess, complemented the BMW R 1300 GS’s advanced rider assistance systems, providing exceptional traction on diverse terrains, from sandy tracks to icy slopes. The expedition’s success underscored the bike’s capabilities in extreme situations, showcasing its off-road expertise and robustness.

This triumph not only marks a milestone for BMW Motorrad but also sets a new standard for adventure riding at unparalleled altitudes.

Triumph has once again pushed the boundaries of innovation in the motorcycling world with the introduction of the revolutionary Active Preload Reduction feature for the 2024 Tiger 1200 range.

This groundbreaking enhancement further solidifies Triumph’s commitment to delivering exceptional performance and rider comfort.

The Tiger 1200 range, initially launched in November 2021, has already left an indelible mark on the adventure motorcycling scene. Now, with the introduction of the Active Preload Reduction feature, Triumph has set a new standard for rider convenience and accessibility.

One of the notable challenges for riders, especially those with a shorter inseam, has been the seat height of adventure motorcycles. Triumph has addressed this challenge head-on by developing the Active Preload Reduction feature, a significant advancement incorporated into the advanced Showa semi-active suspension system of the Tiger 1200 range.

So, what exactly is the Active Preload Reduction feature? In essence, this cutting-edge technology dynamically reduces the rear suspension preload as the Tiger 1200 comes to a stop. This reduction in preload translates to a lowered seat height, providing riders with enhanced stability and confidence, especially when the motorcycle is stationary.

The Tiger 1200 range already offers multiple seat height settings to accommodate various rider preferences. However, the Active Preload Reduction feature takes this customization to the next level. With this feature, riders can experience an even lower seat height than before, improving their connection with the ground and making maneuvering at slow speeds more manageable.

triumph active preload reduction

Triumph has carefully engineered the Active Preload Reduction feature to be intuitive and user-friendly. New customers can engage this feature effortlessly by pressing the ‘Home’ button on the switch cube for just one second. This small yet impactful action activates the preload reduction, allowing riders to experience the benefits without any complexity.

Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent emphasizes the impact of this innovation, stating, “The new Tiger 1200 range is already a global success… This new feature can be enabled on the fly, lowering the centre of gravity at slower speeds, making it even more accessible, offering riders more confidence at slow speeds and better contact with the ground as they come to a stop.”

Triumph’s commitment to rider inclusivity doesn’t stop with new customers. Existing Tiger 1200 owners can also benefit from this enhancement. The Active Preload Reduction feature will be made available to them through their dealer at their next service, ensuring that all riders can enjoy the latest advancements.

The Tiger 1200 range itself is a testament to Triumph’s dedication to crafting exceptional motorcycles. Designed to be the epitome of capability and maneuverability in the adventure motorcycling segment, the Tiger 1200 range offers two distinct families: the GT family for road-focused adventures and the Rally family for all-terrain exploits.

In conclusion, Triumph’s introduction of the Active Preload Reduction feature is a game-changer for the adventure motorcycling community. By combining innovation, accessibility, and rider-centric design, Triumph has once again proven why it stands at the forefront of the industry.

Yamaha is proudly commemorating the 40-year anniversary of its iconic Ténéré. Since its inception in 1983 with the XT600Z, the Ténéré has captured the hearts and minds of adventure enthusiasts worldwide, solidifying its place as a legendary symbol of exploration, resilience, and the spirit of adventure.

Over the past four decades, the Yamaha Ténéré has forged an indelible legacy, inspiring riders to push the boundaries of what is possible and embodying the thrill of embarking on daring journeys.

From conquering the treacherous terrains of the Paris-Dakar Rally to accompanying adventurers in their quest for new horizons, the Ténéré has become a true icon in the motorcycle world.

The Ténéré’s illustrious history is rich with remarkable achievements. In 1979-80, Cyril Neveu secured historic double victories in the first and second Paris-Dakar rallies on the XT500, setting the stage for Yamaha’s incredible rallying feats.

Legendary riders such as Jean-Claude Olivier, Serge Bacou, and the legendary ‘Monsieur Dakar’ Stéphane Peterhansel, who remains undefeated with six Yamaha victories since 1991, have conquered some of the world’s most demanding terrains astride their Ténéré machines.

More recently, Yamaha ambassador Nick Sanders completed his latest global trip on his trusty Ténéré 700, while factory riders Pol Tarrés and Alessandro Botturi continue to etch their names in rally racing history with their GYTR-kitted Ténéré 700 World Raids.

40 years ténéré

To honor this incredible journey and the legendary riders who have contributed to the Ténéré’s legacy, Yamaha has embarked on a 40th Anniversary tour across Europe. This tour showcases a collection of historic Ténéré production models from 1983 to 2010, as well as original Dakar classics. Enthusiasts have the unique opportunity to witness the evolution of this iconic adventure machine firsthand.

In addition to the historic models, the tour features a comprehensive lineup of the latest Ténéré models available for test rides. However, the highlight of the 40th Anniversary tour is the unveiling of the new Ténéré 700 World Rally, adorned in striking factory racing colors reminiscent of the YZE 850 that led Peterhansel to victory in 1993.

The Ténéré 700 World Rally blends Yamaha’s rich desert racing heritage with modern, world-class performance, representing the culmination of four decades of experience and success. This machine stands unrivaled in its ability and adventurous spirit, embodying the essence of the Ténéré name.

2023 yamaha ténéré 700 world rally

The Ténéré 40th Anniversary tour will continue to captivate audiences at upcoming events such as Ténéré Spirit Aguilar de Campoo in Spain from June 31 to July 1, MaxlRIDE Motofestival in Germany from August 25 to 27, and Alpes Aventure Motofestival in France from September 8 to 10.

These events offer enthusiasts a chance to witness the Ténéré’s evolution, experience its capabilities firsthand, and immerse themselves in the rich heritage of this iconic machine.

Ducati launched in Europe the 2023 DesertX, its 950cc Bigtrail motorcycle, which arrives with a new livery and equipped with Turn by Turn navigation system, the first in the Ducati range.

DesertX is a bike made mainly for off-road, with a steel trellis frame, long travel suspensions and large wheels, 21″ at the front and 18″ at the rear. Its design is inspired by the Enduro bikes of the 80s which, with the new livery, makes it even more ready for your off-road adventures.

For 2023, the bike is available in Matt Star Silk and in the new ‘RR22’ configuration, a geometric mix of black, white and red.

But, the main novelty is the presence of turn-by-turn GPS navigation system. According to the company, the integrated navigator is based on the Ducati Multimedia System, which uses the bike’s TFT cluster instrumentation to display the route guidance calculated by the Ducati Link App. In this way, navigation functions can be exploited without the need for an external device.

Ducati has announced that it has started production of the 2023 Multistrada V4 Rally, its extreme grand tourer motorcycle, at the Borgo Panigale factory.

The new bike completes a touring range that has never been so extensive and which was born exactly 20 years ago with the first Multistrada 1000 that marked the opening of Ducati towards the world of travel.

Ready for the toughest roads, especially unpaved ones, the 2023 Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally features semi-active suspensions with 200mm travel, Skyhook DSS EVO control strategy, spoked wheels, reinforced engine protection bars, auto-leveling function, new Power Mode dedicated to off-road and aluminum fuel tank with 30 liters of capacity.

According to the company, the Multistrada V4 Rally is the ideal motorcycle for traveling as a couple and was designed to take the comfort of the rider and travel companion to the highest level. For this, it was equipped with a new, taller and wider windshield, the tail was lengthened and the rear top case attachment was set back to offer more space in the leg area for the passenger. In addition, it features different heights for the seat and a lowered suspension kit to suit any rider and passenger combination.

Security and technology

The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally has the same safety features and technology present in the family, with emphasis on the front and rear radar system, to support Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD), ABS Cornering, Ducati Cornering Lights (DCL), Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) and Ducati Traction Control (DTC).

In addition, it has the Enduro Riding Mode with dedicated Power Mode: selecting Enduro mode activates a dedicated Power Mode, which limits engine power to 114 hp with a dynamic and direct response. Traction Control switches to a lower intervention level and DWC is deactivated. ABS on the rear wheel is also deactivated and cornering functionality and rear lift detection are suppressed to suit off-road use.

Engine and chassis

The engine of the Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally is the 1,158cc Granturismo V4, which is capable of generating up to 170 hp (125 kW) of maximum power at 10,750 rpm and 121 Nm (12.3 kgm) of torque at 8,750 rpm.

2023 ducati multistrada v4 rally

Another technology present in this model is the brand new extended deactivation strategy for the rear cylinders which, in addition to turning off the rear cylinders at idle when the motorcycle is stationary, keeps them deactivated in other operating conditions, to save fuel and reduce emissions.

Finally, it continues with the Multistrada V4’s lightweight, compact aluminum monocoque frame with aluminum die-cast double-sided swingarm.

Versions and availability

The Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally will be offered in three versions: Adventure Radar, equipped with Adaptive Cruise Control and Blind Spot Detection, Adventure Travel & Radar, which adds aluminum side bags, heated grips and seats, and the Full Adventure, which brings in addition to the previous items, an Akrapovič silencer and a carbon fiber front fender.

For anyone who is a Suzuki fan and needed a bike for any type of terrain, was disappointed. Despite the brand having Bigtrails motorcycles capable of leaving the asphalt, the models were more suitable for traveling on tarmac pavements.

But that all changed with the launch of the 2023 V-Strom 1050DE, an extreme adventurer bike that can handle off-road effortlessly, as opposed to the ‘standard’ V-Strom 1050, which is more focused on touring and occasional light off-road trips.

The main differences to the V-Strom 1050 are the bigger front wheel (21″) and the higher suspension, which together make it easier to negotiate obstacles. In addition, the V-Strom 1050DE has spoked wheels, unlike the standard model, which has aluminum alloy wheels.

But that’s not all that makes this new bike much more suitable for off-road. The Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE introduces a new package of features specifically aimed at maximizing performance and control on gravel and dirt roads, as a 40mm longer wheelbase, 25mm higher ground clearance and 20mm wider handlebars on each side.

2023 suzuki v-strom 1050de

Also, as mentioned, it is equipped with spoked wheels and aluminum rims (21 inches at the front), longer rear swingarm, and longer-travel suspension, with 170 mm of travel at the front and 168 mm at the rear.

As for the wheels, it should be noted that the two models use different tires: The V-Strom 1050DE is equipped with Dunlop TRAILMAX MIXTOUR tires measuring 90/90-21 at the front (tube type) and 150/70-17 at the rear (tubeless). The V-Strom 1050, on the other hand, leaves the factory with Bridgestone BATTLAX ADVENTURE A41 tires, measuring 110/80-19 at the front and 150/70-17 at the rear, both tubeless.

Finally, the new bike adopts G (Gravel) mode in the traction control system and ABS which can be turned off at the rear wheel. Also new to the model is the 5-inch color TFT instrument panel, which provides the rider with information from the latest electronic controls.

As for the engine, it hasn’t changed. The V-Strom 1050DE continues with the same liquid-cooled 90˚ ‘V’ 2-cylinder 1037cc DOHC engine, which is capable of generating up to 107 HP (79 kW) of maximum power at 8,500rpm and 100 Nm (10.2 kgfm) of torque at 6,000 rpm.

Anyway, for those who expected a more robust model from the Japanese brand, this is the bike. The new 2023 Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE is expected to hit stores in Europe and North America in early 2023. For now, prices have not yet been released.

Honda has unveiled the new 2023 XL750 Transalp in Europe, its 750cc adventure bike, which takes its name from the original iconic 1986 bike for a new generation of riders.

With premium specifications, the XL750 Transalp arrives with a lot of embedded technology such as the Throttle By Wire, 4 riding modes, 5 levels of traction control ‘Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC)’, Wheelie Control and 3 levels of Engine Brake and Power.

Furthermore, the design of this new model is based on the classic design of the original Transalp, the XL600V, with characteristic colors and graphics, and smooth, clean lines. But it also brings modernity, with an LED headlight reminiscent of the CB 500X and NC 750X, and a color TFT digital panel.

Ready for the most extreme adventures, the XL750 Transalp features spoked wheels (21″ front, 18″ rear), dual purpose tires, and Showa SFF-CA USD front fork and Showa Pro-Link rear suspension.

2023 xl750 transalp

In addition, it has double disc brakes at the front with 2-piston calipers and an ABS brake system, for excellent stopping power and, at the same time, maintaining the lightness of the set.

In terms of engine, the XL750 Transalp is equipped with the same unit that equips the ‘naked’ Hornet 750, that is, a 750 cm³ twin cylinder with liquid cooling, and which is capable of generating up to 67.5 kW (91.7 hp) of maximum power at 9,500 rpm, and 75 Nm (7.6 kgfm) of torque at 7,250 rpm.

As you would expect on an adventurer, the seat is quite high, at 850mm, but the company says that height is low for the class and that an optional low seat is offered, for a maximum height of 820mm.

2023 xl750 transalp

Finally, the 2023 Honda XL750 Transalp hits stores in Europe in 3 color options: Ross White Tricolor, Matte Iridium Gray Metallic and Mat Ballistic Black Metallic. There is no price information, but as it will be positioned between the NC 750X and the CRF 1100L Africa Twin, we can estimate it to be something close to US$ 11,000.
