After the launch of the EM1 e: with modest performance, the CUV e: arrives with higher specifications, that is, it has two batteries for extended autonomy, and a more powerful engine, for greater top speed.

It has two swappable 48V/1.3kW batteries, which allow a range of around 70 km with a full charge (WMTC cycle). Full charging from 0 to 100% is done in 6 hours (only 3 hours from 0 to 75%).

The engine is 6 kW and is located on the left side of the rear swingarm, instead of the wheel hub, which is generally used in the category. It allows a maximum speed of up to 80 km/h and has 3 modes: SPORT, STANDARD and ECON.

In terms of technology, this scooter does not leave anything to be desired, as it comes with Full-LED lighting, SmartKey keyless start system, USB-C charging port, and a 5-inch color TFT panel in the entry-level version, and a 7-inch panel with Honda RoadSync Duo connectivity in the top-of-the-line version.

Finally, the model has several accessories, sold as optional extras, such as Smart Top Box, windshield, hand protectors and alarm kit.

The new 2025 Honda CUV e: arrives in European stores in three colors: Pearl Jubilee White, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, and Premium Silver Metallic.

For now, there is no release date set for other countries.

Now, the company, also know as ‘Build Your Dream’ (BYD), may be entering a new segment, this time on two wheels, much to the dismay of its competitors.

A few patent drawings have emerged that indicate that BYD may be developing a premium, mid-size electric scooter, with all the technology the company already has.

This scooter will likely be equipped with blade batteries, a specialty of the company, which allow for high currents and many charging cycles.

The project seems to be quite interesting, with a slightly larger front wheel (probably 15″), inverted front suspension, central engine and final drive via belt.

The size and build in the drawings indicate a scooter very similar to the Honda Forza 350, that is, a model with plenty of space and comfort for both the rider and the passenger.

For now, nothing has been confirmed, but judging by the drawings released, it seems that the development of this electric scooter may be at an advanced stage, which would allow its launch in the near future.

Anyway, will the giant of four-wheeled electric vehicles also be able to be a powerhouse on two wheels? Only time will tell.

Both models are equipped with an 8.9 kWh battery, with liquid cooling, which allows a range of 160 km (100 miles) on the Pulse and 145 km (90 miles) on the Origin.

The central electric motor, also with liquid cooling, has a maximum peak power of 35 kW (47 hp) and torque of 72 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) happens in just 3.8 seconds.

The starting prices announced are as follows: 2025 Can-Am Pulse, US$ 13,999; 2025 Can-Am Origin, US$ 14,499.

Anyway, the Can-Am Pulse and Origin are two modern electric motorcycles that perform well in their categories. Whether they can take the brand to the top of the world rankings remains to be seen.

One of these companies is SYM, which released a hybrid scooter concept, that is, one that has an electric motor responsible for propelling the vehicle, and another internal combustion engine, to generate electricity and increase autonomy.

The SYM PE 3, as the concept is known, has a modern design, but with straight lines. According to information, it has a range of just 35 km with its battery. But, with its gasoline internal combustion engine, and a 3-liter tank, it can travel an additional approximately 265 km, reaching a total of 300 km.

Of course, we are talking about a scooter for urban travel, and with a low top speed. Information says that the gasoline engine does not propel the vehicle, it only generates electricity to charge the battery. It turns on automatically when the battery voltage drops from 75 to 60 volts.

This is different from some types of hybrid cars, where the internal combustion engine helps to ‘push’ the vehicle, contributing to a sportier performance.

But this type of combination is now also applied to motorcycles. Kawasaki recently launched its hybrid motorcycle, which can run on just the battery in 100% electric mode, or in electric + combustion mode, making riding more sporty and pleasurable.

Anyway, we have to wait for more information, but SYM has not announced when its hybrid scooter will hit the market. As the market is still evolving, a lot will happen in the coming years.
