BMW presented the R20 concept at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, famous for its elegance and historical significance for extraordinary vehicles.

The BMW R20 concept features a modern classic design and the Big Boxer engine as its centerpiece, which consequently takes center stage.

This unique motorcycle is very minimalist, with an extremely short rear end and slender body. With this, the huge engine takes center stage, with each cylinder taking up a lot of space on the sides.

Another piece that stands out in the design is the aluminum fuel tank, which features the “warmer than pink” color from the 1970s.

bmw r20

The engine that powers the concept is the well-known Big Boxer that powers other models of the brand. It has a displacement of 2,000 cc and is air and oil cooled.

Anyway, with this concept, it could be that in the future BMW will launch a Roadster motorcycle with the Big Boxer engine. Currently, the only Roadster with a boxer engine sold by the brand is the R 1250 R, which uses the same engine as the adventurous R 1250 GS.

Renowned custom motorcycle visionary Paul Yaffe has once again pushed the boundaries of design with his latest creation, the BMW R 18 One Eight “C”.

This one-of-a-kind customization of the BMW R 18 Transcontinental is a true testament to Yaffe’s excellence as a designer, seamlessly blending classic hot rod aesthetics with the distinctive essence of BMW.

The Legend of Paul Yaffe:

Since 1991, Paul Yaffe has been a legendary figure in the US customization scene. As the founder of the American Legend Motorcycle Company (later evolving into Paul Yaffe’s Bagger Nation), he has earned numerous accolades, including awards for the “Most Beautiful Motorcycle in the World” and “Builder of the Year.” His latest masterpiece, the BMW R 18 One Eight “C,” is set to debut at the MBE Show in Verona, Italy.

Preserving BMW Essence with Hot Rod Inspiration:

Before diving into the customization process, Paul Yaffe embarked on a 3,800-mile journey across the US, followed by an additional 2,600 miles to Sturgis and back, familiarizing himself with the BMW R 18 Transcontinental. The goal was clear: create a big-wheeled “bagger” that retained the authenticity of BMW while delivering a unique aesthetic.

bmw r 18 one eight "C"

A 26” x 5.5” front wheel, cut from a solid 400-pound block of aluminum, set the tone for the customization. The frame was lengthened and inclined to accommodate the new front wheel, inspired by the iconic Mercury Lead Sled of the 1950s. Unique components were crafted, including a steel front fender, restructured fairing, and an exclusive set of Yaffe Monkey Bars.

Classic Lead Sled Aesthetics:

Staying true to the classic Lead Sled aesthetic, Yaffe’s team extended the original rear fender, rearranged taillights, and integrated a license plate area in classic hot rod style. The air suspension and side tubes were meticulously designed, with a focus on preserving the distinctive “BMW feel.”

The side tubes retained the classic Boxer engine exhaust pipes, now enhanced with a custom-made high-flow perforated baffle system. A 3-step muffler system and wide-mouth megaphone were introduced for that characteristic hot rod sound.

bmw r 18 one eight "C"

Aesthetics and Finishing Touch:

With a focus on simplicity and attractiveness, the team perfected all body panels, achieving a glass-like finish. A timeless gloss black exterior, complemented by a classic blood red interior, highlights the bike’s sleek new stance. The contemporary style seat and dash console, created by Guys Upholstery, add the finishing touch to this spectacular masterpiece.

In the end, it’s not just a motorcycle; it’s an artful blend of classic hot rod aesthetics and BMW’s timeless essence. Paul Yaffe’s BMW R 18 One Eight “C” is a true marvel that captures attention and leaves a lasting impression.

The Skyline OS powers a suite of infotainment technology, replacing analog instrumentation with a color touch screen and a premium audio system belting out tunes through Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage II speakers.

CVO Pan America: Conquer the Unknown

It retains all the features that make the Pan America 1250 Special a global Adventure Touring favorite, including the Revolution Max 1250 engine, semi-active suspension, touch screen display, and Adaptive Ride Height suspension.

But that’s not all – the CVO Pan America is kitted out for the adventurer who wants it all and more. With rugged accessories like Adaptive Ride Height suspension, aluminum top and side cases, a Screamin’ Eagle quickshifter, tubeless spoked wheels, auxiliary LED forward lighting, and an aluminum skid plate, you’re equipped for any journey.

Rev up your excitement, motorcycle enthusiasts, because Ducati and Bentley have just unveiled a masterpiece born from their collaboration – the Ducati Diavel for Bentley.

This limited-edition motorcycle is not just a ride; it’s a celebration of the best that these iconic brands have to offer: performance, craftsmanship, and exclusivity.

Picture this: the Ducati Diavel for Bentley is not your ordinary bike. It’s a striking synthesis of technology, style, and performance that will make any enthusiast’s heart race. The bike made its grand entrance during a ‘fuorisalone’ event at Art Basel week in Miami Beach, proving that it’s not just a motorcycle; it’s a work of art.

What sets this beauty apart is its sophisticated technical base, drawing from the high-performance and comfortable Diavel V4. Ducati, in collaboration with Bentley designers, integrated distinctive elements from the Bentley Batur, a limited-series handcrafted model by Bentley. The result? A motorcycle that oozes elegance and design.

ducati diavel for bentley

Limited to just 500+50 examples, the Diavel for Bentley is a rare gem, with an extra 50 reserved exclusively for Bentley customers. The Centro Stile Ducati worked its magic, taking inspiration from the Batur’s mainly horizontal lines. The Scarab Green color, borrowed from Bentley’s Mulliner palette, adds a touch of sophistication to the bodywork.

Dive into the details, and you’ll discover forged rims inspired by the car’s shapes, painted in Dark Titanium Satin. The side air intakes reflect the front grille, and the triangular rear extractors mirror those of the Batur. It’s a visual feast where every detail matters.

But it’s not just about looks; the Diavel for Bentley means business under the hood. The 1,158 cc V4 Granturismo engine, packing a powerful 168 hp, is a central element of its design. It’s not just a motorcycle; it’s a symphony of power and elegance.

And for those lucky enough to get their hands on one of these masterpieces, Ducati doesn’t disappoint. Each Diavel for Bentley comes with a certificate of authenticity, a passenger seat, and a motorcycle cover. Your bike’s name and production number are engraved on a plate, making it a unique piece of art on wheels.

Honda has introduced the 2024 version of the CMX500 Rebel, the iconic 500cc custom bobber motorcycle. While it comes with fresh paint options, the mechanical components remain consistent with the previous model.

The 2024 CMX500 Rebel is now available in Seal Silver Metallic, Matt Laurel Green Metallic, and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. In addition, the ‘S’ version is still available, which adds some accessories such as headlight fairing and diamond-style seat stitching, in the new Pearl Shining Black color.

When it comes to its mechanical components, the 2024 Honda CMX500 Rebel remains steadfast with the tried-and-true setup introduced in 2020. This includes a EURO5-compliant 471cc twin-cylinder engine, updated suspensions, a comprehensive Full-LED lighting system, a dashboard-equipped gear indicator, an assist and slipper clutch for smooth gear shifts, and an ergonomically improved seat for enhanced comfort.

The CMX500 Rebel stands as a prime example of minimalistic design with clean, uncluttered lines. This custom bobber exudes its distinctive style through the positioning of the fuel tank and, notably, its broad tires. At the front, you’ll find beefy 130/90-16 tires, and at the rear, it’s equipped with substantial 150/80-16 rubber.

2024 cmx500 rebel

Furthermore, the ‘S’ variant of this model boasts a compact headlight fairing, a front suspension protector with a retro-inspired design, and an elegantly diamond-stitched seat for added sophistication.

Lastly, the CMX500 Rebel seamlessly blends modern LED lighting technology with a touch of classic aesthetics. You’ll notice a round headlight, dashboard, and turn signals that exude a timeless charm. At the rear, the taillight takes on a horizontal design with gently curved sides, reminiscent of a pill shape, to complete the distinctive look.

Engine and technology

The engine of the 2024 CMX500 Rebel is a liquid cooled 471 cm³ twin-cylinder, capable of generating up to 34 kW (45.6 HP) of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 43.3Nm (4.4 kgfm) of torque at 6,000 rpm.

2024 cmx500 rebel

This engine is shared with the adventurous CB 500X model, but it has undergone fine-tuning in fuel injection mapping and adjustments to valve and ignition timing. These changes prioritize low-end torque, resulting in a power delivery that is both smooth and consistent across the entire rev range.

It works with a 6-speed transmission, complemented by an assist and slipper clutch for seamless gear shifts. The 16-inch wheels provide stability, and when it comes to braking, the CMX500 Rebel boasts a front 296mm brake disc paired with two-piston calipers, backed by a two-channel ABS system for secure stopping power.

The CMX500 Rebel sports a fully digital instrument panel, highlighted by a negative LCD screen with a crisp white backlight. Notably, it incorporates a gear position indicator and a fuel consumption display for added functionality.

Finally, a range of Honda Genuine Accessories are available both individually or as part of the ‘comfort’ or ‘travel’ packs, including passenger backrest, adjustable brake lever and 12V socket.

In summary, the 2024 Honda CMX500 Rebel is more than just a motorcycle; it’s a statement, an expression of your individuality. With its new color options and unwavering rebel spirit, it continues to be the ideal ride for those who crave the extraordinary.

cvo motorcycles

Equipped with fairings featuring integrated venting and LED signature lighting with integrated turn signals, these motorcycles embody an air of sophistication and modernity.

Notable design enhancements include a trimmed front fender, a distinctive 6-gallon fuel tank with a captivating side bevel, and saddlebags that harmoniously complement the fairings and fuel tank with their three-dimensional shape.

To make a bold custom statement, the new Combo Cast Laced wheels feature a black machine-cut cast-aluminum rim and laced spokes. Each model will be available in two meticulously detailed finish options, allowing riders to personalize their ride with a touch of their own style.

Unleashing Power and Performance

The heart of these formidable machines beats with the all-new 121-cubic inch V-Twin Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 engine, redefining the limits of factory-installed torque and displacement available in a Harley-Davidson Touring motorcycle.

This powerhouse features optimized liquid-cooled cylinder heads, a new cooling system, variable valve timing (VVT), and a performance exhaust system, all working in unison to deliver an unparalleled riding experience.

cvo motorcycles

To ensure an exhilarating yet comfortable ride, Harley-Davidson’s engineers meticulously considered every aspect of design. The result is a significant reduction in dry weight – 31 pounds for the CVO Street Glide model and 35 pounds for the CVO Road Glide model – compared to their predecessors.

Front and rear SHOWA suspension components have been fine-tuned to promote confident handling while providing a dramatic improvement in rider comfort, with rear suspension travel increased by an impressive 50 percent. To instill a sense of confidence, premium Brembo braking components offer outstanding braking feel and performance.

Embracing Technological Innovation

The CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models mark a significant milestone as they introduce selectable Ride Modes for the first time. Riders can choose between Road, Sport, and Rain modes, which dynamically control power delivery, engine braking, Cornering-Antilock Braking System (C-ABS), and Cornering-Traction Control System (C-TCS) settings.

This technological advancement empowers riders to tailor their riding experience to suit various road and weather conditions, enhancing safety and control.

Furthermore, these motorcycles offer an all-new suite of infotainment technology powered by the cutting-edge Skyline OS. A striking 12.3-inch TFT color touch screen replaces traditional analog instrumentation and most switches, providing riders with a customizable display across three distinct view options.

Compatible with both Apple and Android devices, the system boasts Wi-Fi connectivity for seamless wireless connections, while a built-in Bluetooth receiver enables hassle-free integration with wireless headsets.

The audio experience is taken to new heights with the inclusion of a premium, high-performance Harley-Davidson Audio powered by Rockford Fosgate Stage II four-speaker audio system, fueled by a new 500-watt RMS amplifier.

Eagerly Awaited Debut

Motorcycle enthusiasts and Harley-Davidson fans alike can look forward to witnessing the U.S. public debut of the CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models during the highly anticipated Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival in Milwaukee, taking place from July 13th to July 16th, 2023.

Authorized Harley-Davidson dealer showrooms worldwide will welcome these remarkable machines in mid-July.

Harley-Davidson has been known for producing some of the most iconic motorcycles in the world, and since 1999, their Custom Vehicle Operations™ (CVO™) motorcycles have been the epitome of luxury and performance.

Now, Harley-Davidson has announced two new 2023 CVO motorcycles, the all-new CVO Street Glide® and CVO Road Glide®, which will be officially premiered on June 7, 2023.

According to Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President, and CEO of Harley-Davidson, these motorcycles represent a new era of innovation, design, engineering, and technology that redefines the boundaries of CVO.

2023 cvo motorcycles

Harley-Davidson CVO motorcycles are limited-production motorcycles that deliver the ultimate in refinement of styling, design, craftsmanship, and attention to detail, along with top-of-the-line performance.

With the introduction of the all-new 2023 CVO Street Glide and 2023 CVO Road Glide, Harley-Davidson has completely reimagined two of its most iconic motorcycles, breaking the mold and resetting the bar for the pinnacle Harley-Davidson riding experience.

Brad Richards, Harley-Davidson Vice President of Design and Creative Director, commented on the design of the new motorcycles, stating that they bring a cohesive and dynamic flow from the front fenders to the saddlebags.

2023 cvo street glide

The all-new batwing fairing featured on the 2023 CVO Street Glide model offers an evolved profile, exhibiting a faster overall gesture and more swept windshield. Undercuts beneath the headlamp are more pronounced, and turn indicators are integrated as opposed to external units.

In addition, the silhouette and graphic outline of the batwing fairing have been modernized with updated surfacing, and the new fairing integrates in design with the fuel tank, side covers, and saddlebags.

The all-new 2023 CVO Road Glide model fairing presents an aggressive update to the MY22 “sharknose” design and integrates with the fuel tank, side covers, and saddlebags.

2023 cvo road glide

In addition, the single LED headlamp has a wide, horizontal shape, yet appears to have twin elements, recalling a key feature of all previous Road Glide model fairings, and turn signal lamps are integrated within the outer portions of the signature lighting.

Both models feature the new Milwaukee-Eight® VVT 121 engine, all-new suspension, all-new infotainment system, and are offered with two paint/finish options.

]]>
Fred Kodlin, a well-known name in the US customizing scene, has collaborated with his son Len for the first time to customize a BMW R 18 B. The result of their father-son project is the R 18 B HEAVY DUTY, a bike that is a typical Kodlin creation.

The biggest challenge in customizing the R 18 B was remanufacturing the frame to lower the fly-line and seat height. The Kodlin team also created a completely new sheet metal tank that is longer than the original and features indentations on the sides.

In addition, the bike also features a front spoiler with a 3-colour underfloor lighting system, a front mudguard made of sheet metal, and side cases made of glass fibre-reinforced plastic. The technical chassis highlight is an air suspension system that can be lowered and raised in a fraction of a second.

Moreover, the attention to detail is evident in every aspect of the customization, from the winglets above the cylinders that underline the design of the bike, to the side covers that form a smooth transition to the side cases, to the seat made by Kodlin and the instrument cover with covers made of Alcantara and imitation leather.

bmw r 18 b heavy duty

The bike also features a self-created exhaust system, specially made handlebars, and R 18 B loudspeakers by Marshall and an amplifier fitted inside the side cases.

Finally, the paint job on the R 18 B HEAVY DUTY is also a work of art. Marcel Sinnwell airbrushed the colour gradients with translucent paint, inspired by the mixing of colour pigments in the paint and the way they form streaks in the milky basecoat when first stirred. The result is a complex and colourful paint scheme that fits in perfectly with the Daytona bike week.

The R 18 B HEAVY DUTY is a true masterpiece that showcases the creativity and craftsmanship of Fred Kodlin and his team. It’s no wonder that Kodlin has won various important Daytona shows regularly and was the first non-US citizen to be inducted into the Sturgis Hall of Fame.

With this project, Kodlin has proved that the next generation at Kodlin Bikes is already in the starting blocks, with Len providing a lot of creative input. The BMW R 18 B HEAVY DUTY is undoubtedly one of the most unique and impressive custom bikes of the year, and a true testament to the Kodlin legacy.

Harley-Davidson, the iconic American motorcycle manufacturer, has made waves in the industry with its latest launch of the X 500 model in China.

The motorcycle brand is partnering with Qianjiang, the large Chinese group that owns QJ Motor and Benelli, to introduce this new model in the Asian market, along with the smaller version X 350.

The X 500 is closely related to the Benelli Leoncino 500, which is not surprising considering the brands’ shared ownership. However, Harley-Davidson has added its own touch to the X 500 by incorporating style elements from its larger, classic motorcycles.

For instance, the LED round headlight and the rear design, which are reminiscent of the XR 1200 and the current Fat Bob, respectively, give the X 500 a unique look.

harley-davidson x 500

Information shows that the Harley-Davidson X 500 is powered by a two-cylinder engine that delivers 48 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and 46 Nm at 6,000 tours. It has six gears and a top speed of around 160 km/h.

In addition, the motorcycle also features an upside-down telescopic fork at the front and a rear wheel swingarm made of steel tubes. The 320mm double disc brake at the front with radially bolted four-piston calipers is a standout feature.

The X 500 weighs 199 kilograms without fuel and has a fuel tank capacity of 13 liters. The cast aluminum wheels have tire sizes of 120/70-17 at the front and 160/60-17 at the rear.

harley-davidson x 500

In China, the X 500 is priced at 44,388 yuan, which is around US$ 6,452. The X 350, which is also being produced by Qianjiang, costs the equivalent of around US$ 4,935.

Harley-Davidson is primarily targeting the Asian and South American markets with the X 500 and X 350. These regions have a growing demand for mid-range motorcycles, making the X 500 a strategic move for the brand.

While the X 500 may not have the same classic appeal as the larger Harley-Davidson motorcycles, it is a significant step for the brand towards global expansion.

The partnership with Qianjiang and the incorporation of design elements from classic models show that Harley-Davidson is willing to adapt to local markets while still maintaining its identity.

The post New Harley-Davidson and Hero Partnership Leaks Images of Upcoming Single-Cylinder Bike appeared first on MotoNews World.

]]>
In a leaked set of images, it appears that Harley-Davidson and Hero Motocorp, its official partner in India, are working on a new single-cylinder motorcycle that is specifically designed for the Indian market.

In India, single-cylinder engines up to 500 cc are still common and popular, often without water cooling. This new model, rumored to be called the Hero Harley, is expected to feature a 420 cc air-oil-cooled single-cylinder engine with an estimated output of 30-40 horsepower, keeping the manufacturing costs in line with the Indian market.

The leaked images reveal that the Hero Harley will have a sporty and modern naked bike design, deviating from Harley-Davidson’s typical cruiser style. The motorcycle features an upside-down telescopic fork and a not-so-flat steering head angle, indicating a more aggressive riding stance.

At the rear, classic spring struts can be seen, giving the motorcycle a retro touch. The seat height is expected to be beginner-friendly at just under 800 millimeters, and the weight is estimated to be around 180 kilograms with a full tank of petrol.

harley-davidson hero leak

In terms of features, the Hero Harley is expected to come with a 6-speed gearbox, ABS-equipped disc brakes on both wheels from the Indian Brembo offshoot Bybre, and LED lights that showcase the iconic Harley-Davidson brand. The motorcycle is also rumored to have a modern TFT display in the cockpit with colored displays and Bluetooth connectivity, as well as different riding modes.

One of the most interesting aspects of the Hero Harley is its expected price. Despite being a Harley-Davidson branded motorcycle, the price is speculated to be around 250,000 Indian rupees, which is equivalent to US$ 3,050. This competitive pricing puts the Hero Harley in direct competition with established models from other Indian motorcycle brands like Royal Enfield, TVS, and Honda.

This is not Harley-Davidson’s first attempt at the Indian market. From 2014 to 2020, Harley-Davidson had a factory in India where it produced the Street 500, Street 750, and Street Rod models with water-cooled V-twin engines. However, these models did not gain much traction in the Indian market, and the Harley-Davidson plant in India was eventually closed at the end of 2020. The new partnership with Hero Motocorp and the development of the Hero Harley could be Harley-Davidson’s second chance at capturing the Indian market.

harley-davidson hero leak

Although the leaked images and details of the Hero Harley are still speculative, the anticipation among Indian motorcycle enthusiasts is already building. The market launch of the Hero Harley is reportedly planned for the summer of 2023, initially in India, but export to other countries is also being considered.

Harley-Davidson and Hero Motocorp’s partnership and the development of a new single-cylinder motorcycle for the Indian market demonstrate the brands’ commitment to adapting to local preferences and expanding their presence in one of the world’s largest motorcycle markets.

Motorcycle enthusiasts around the globe will be keeping a close eye on the Hero Harley and its potential impact in the Indian motorcycle industry.

Kawasaki, the renowned Japanese motorcycle manufacturer, has recently unveiled its latest addition to the cruiser motorcycle segment: the 2024 Eliminator 400.

With its launch, the company is setting its sights on competing with one of the most popular cruisers on the market today, the Honda Rebel 500.

The Eliminator 400 is being touted as a more affordable option compared to the Vulcan S 650, and with its powerful engine and sleek design, it is poised to give the Honda Rebel 500 some serious competition.

With its top-of-the-line features and cutting-edge technology, the Eliminator 400 promises to be a major player in the cruiser market, both in Japan and around the world.

While the overall aesthetic of the Eliminator 400 shares similarities with the Vulcan S 650, the bike’s mechanics are rooted in the Z400 naked sportbike and Ninja 400 sportbike. With an output of up to 48 horsepower, the 398cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine provides a powerful and exhilarating ride.

The new 2024 Eliminator 400 stays true to custom cruiser tradition with its distinct wheel sizes – an 18-inch front and 16-inch rear – coupled with dual shock absorbers at the back. This setup offers a remarkably comfortable and laid-back riding experience, ideal for long trips and leisurely cruises.

2024 eliminator 400

Moreover, the Eliminator 400 boasts a plethora of advanced technological features that set it apart from its competitors. With Full-LED lighting, a digital display, and ABS brakes as standard, the motorcycle delivers enhanced safety and convenience for the rider.

For those seeking the ultimate riding experience, the ‘SE’ version of the bike takes things up a notch with an array of cutting-edge features. In addition to GPS and a convenient USB port, this model comes equipped with both front and rear cameras, enabling riders to capture and share their adventures with ease.

These features make for a more enjoyable and hassle-free riding experience, whether you’re commuting to work or embarking on a weekend adventure.

Even though the announced prices for Japan have already been disclosed, starting at 759,000 yen (equivalent to around US$5,781), there is still no precise information available regarding the availability of the new 2024 Eliminator 400 in stores.

Furthermore, it remains unclear whether the motorcycle will be made available for purchase in other countries, leaving numerous brand enthusiasts across the globe eagerly anticipating further updates.
