For anyone who is a Suzuki fan and needed a bike for any type of terrain, was disappointed. Despite the brand having Bigtrails motorcycles capable of leaving the asphalt, the models were more suitable for traveling on tarmac pavements.

But that all changed with the launch of the 2023 V-Strom 1050DE, an extreme adventurer bike that can handle off-road effortlessly, as opposed to the ‘standard’ V-Strom 1050, which is more focused on touring and occasional light off-road trips.

The main differences to the V-Strom 1050 are the bigger front wheel (21″) and the higher suspension, which together make it easier to negotiate obstacles. In addition, the V-Strom 1050DE has spoked wheels, unlike the standard model, which has aluminum alloy wheels.

But that’s not all that makes this new bike much more suitable for off-road. The Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE introduces a new package of features specifically aimed at maximizing performance and control on gravel and dirt roads, as a 40mm longer wheelbase, 25mm higher ground clearance and 20mm wider handlebars on each side.

2023 suzuki v-strom 1050de

Also, as mentioned, it is equipped with spoked wheels and aluminum rims (21 inches at the front), longer rear swingarm, and longer-travel suspension, with 170 mm of travel at the front and 168 mm at the rear.

As for the wheels, it should be noted that the two models use different tires: The V-Strom 1050DE is equipped with Dunlop TRAILMAX MIXTOUR tires measuring 90/90-21 at the front (tube type) and 150/70-17 at the rear (tubeless). The V-Strom 1050, on the other hand, leaves the factory with Bridgestone BATTLAX ADVENTURE A41 tires, measuring 110/80-19 at the front and 150/70-17 at the rear, both tubeless.

Finally, the new bike adopts G (Gravel) mode in the traction control system and ABS which can be turned off at the rear wheel. Also new to the model is the 5-inch color TFT instrument panel, which provides the rider with information from the latest electronic controls.

As for the engine, it hasn’t changed. The V-Strom 1050DE continues with the same liquid-cooled 90˚ ‘V’ 2-cylinder 1037cc DOHC engine, which is capable of generating up to 107 HP (79 kW) of maximum power at 8,500rpm and 100 Nm (10.2 kgfm) of torque at 6,000 rpm.

Anyway, for those who expected a more robust model from the Japanese brand, this is the bike. The new 2023 Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE is expected to hit stores in Europe and North America in early 2023. For now, prices have not yet been released.

Suzuki has launched the new 2023 V-Strom 1050DE, its most extreme 1050cc bigtrail bike, which comes with a 21″ front wheel and longer-travel suspension, making it even more apt for off-roading.

The V-Strom 1050 is equipped with aluminum alloy wheels and therefore more suitable for the road. The ‘XT’ nomenclature is no longer used.

The Suzuki V-Strom 1050DE introduces a new package of features specifically aimed at maximizing performance and control on gravel and dirt roads. Features include a 40mm longer wheelbase, 25mm higher ground clearance and 20mm wider handlebars on each side.

Design

The design of the 2023 V-Strom 1050DE has not changed, it remains inspired by the legendary DR-Z (Desert Racing Prototype) and the production model DR-BIG. The “nozzle” and color schemes pay homage to the aforementioned models. The design is aggressive, with straighter lines and defined angles.

In addition, it continues with a rectangular headlight, with vertically stacked LED lighting. In fact, the lighting is Full-LED, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals (blinkers) rely on this technology.

Engine and technology

The new 2023 V-Strom 1050DE continues with the same liquid-cooled 90˚ ‘V’ 2-cylinder 1037cc DOHC engine, which is capable of generating up to 107 HP (79 kW) of maximum power at 8,500rpm and 100 Nm (10.2 kgfm) of torque at 6,000 rpm.

Suzuki has launched the new 2022 GSX-S1000GT, its 1000cc Sports Tourer bike, based on the ‘naked’ GSX-S1000, which arrives with an aggressive new design – which will be the basis for other future bikes from the brand – and new technologies.

The main feature of the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT is its ability to provide comfort with high performance, making it a great choice for travel. The Sports Tourer models have this characteristic, achieved through fairings, windshield and more upright riding position.

The highlight of the 2022 GSX-S1000GT is its new design which, according to the company, will be the basis for future motorcycles of the brand (probably the sporty GSX-R1000). It has strait lines and sharp angles along the entire length of the bike. The new, very aggressive front fairing features horizontally arranged LED headlights, a new mirror design and side-mounted turn signals.

This new front end bears a certain resemblance to the Yamaha Tracer 7 GT and the supersport Yamaha R1, with two LED cannons on the lower side edges, with two LED lines just above, for the daytime running light (DRL).

Small cutouts on the side ends work as aerodynamic “wings”, derived from the bike used in MotoGP, and which is a trend in the world of sports bikes.

Finally, the GSX-S1000GT comes in three colors: Metallic Triton Blue, which represents the Suzuki brand identity, as used on the company’s MotoGP machines, Metallic Reflective Blue, a dark blue with a glossy finish, and Glass Sparkle Black, a combination of glossy and smooth black.

Technology

The new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT arrives packed with technology, getting fully updated and ready to face the competition, say, Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX.

It relies on the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), which is the riding modes system. There are three options available: Active (which releases power and torque more aggressively), Basic (which gives this delivery a softening), and Comfort (as the name says, offers the highest level of comfort, with throttle response more ‘docile’).

Another safety feature is the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), with five levels of adjustment, which is programmed to continuously monitor front and rear wheel speed, engine RPM, throttle position and gear position.

2022 suzuki gsx-s1000gt

The GSX-S1000GT features rapid bidirectional gear shifting (Bi-directional Quick Shift System), which allows for almost instantaneous shifting up and down, without the need to engage the clutch.

Another new item on the model is the 32-bit Electronic Throttle (Ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System), which is more accurate.

Finally, the lighting is Full-LED, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals rely on this technology. Completing the ‘package’, the instrument panel is also new, 100% digital in 6.5″ color TFT, with complete information and Smartphone connection for calls, music and GPS navigation, among others.

Engine

The 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT has the same engine as the ‘naked’ GSX-S1000, that is, it is a 999 cm³ inline four cylinder with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 152 HP (112 kW) of maximum power at 11,000 rpm, and 10.8 kgfm (106 Nm) of torque at 9,250 rpm. In addition, it has Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) in its 6-speed gearbox.

Finally, the new model features a 19 liter fuel tank, 43 mm KYB USD front suspension, 4-piston Brembo monobloc radial-mount calipers, 310 mm brake discs, and Dunlop SPORTMAX Roadsport2 tires.

The new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000GT will be in stores across Europe in November 2021, for £11,599 in the UK (approximately US $15,817).

Suzuki Announces New A2-Friendly GSX-S950 in the UK https://motonewsworld.com/suzuki-announces-new-a2-friendly-gsx-s950-in-the-uk/ Wed, 16 Jun 2021 11:54:34 +0000 https://motonewsworld.com/?p=3000 Suzuki announced in the UK the new GSX-S950, with the possibility of use with A2 license (up to 35 kW).

The post Suzuki Announces New A2-Friendly GSX-S950 in the UK appeared first on MotoNews World.

]]>
Suzuki announced in the UK the new GSX-S950, with the possibility of use with A2 license (up to 35 kW). It is practically the new GSX-S1000, but with a restriction kit.

To differentiate it, it has exclusive graphics, with the inscription ‘GSX-S950’ on the radiator side fairings.

Otherwise, it’s the same base as the GSX-S1000, which arrived this year with a new, more aggressive design, new technologies and engine improvements.

Speaking of engine, it has the same in-line 4 cylinders and 999 cm³ with liquid cooling as the GSX-S1000, but with restrictions: in this version, this engine is capable of generating up to 70 kW (95 HP) of maximum power at 7,800 rpm (against 152 CV for the GSX-S1000); with the restriction kit for category A2, the maximum power is 35 kW (47.5 HP).

suzuki gsx-s950

Suzuki says that the GSX-S950 will represent a new proposition in the market, providing a ‘big bike’ experience at a restricted output for new riders, before becoming an ideal stepping stone to more powerful machines once derestricted.

Despite the reduced power, the torque is practically the same as the ‘integral’ version, peaking at 92 Nm (9.5 kgfm) at 6,500 rpm. In addition, it has the same assist and slip clutch.

Almost all other specs are the same as the GSX-S1000 (see below for more details). The Suzuki GSX-S950 will hit stores in the UK from August, and the price is yet to be set. This version is not expected to be sold outside Europe.

How is the new GSX-S950

The Suzuki GSX-S950 features the same design as the GSX-S1000. Now, it has straighter lines and sharper angles along the entire length of the bike. You can see sharp angles on the tank, rear and new side fairings.

Even “wings” derived from the bike used in MotoGP it has. They are small, but they are there, in the side fairings.

Another novelty is the adoption of a new front optical set, with LED cannons arranged vertically. The set sits in a lower, leaning position, adopting a true ‘streetfighter’ look.

Speaking of lighting, it is not Full-LED like the GSX-S1000, only the headlights and taillight have this technology. The turn signals are the traditional ones. The instrument panel is the same, 100% digital in LCD.

Full of technology

The Suzuki GSX-S950 features the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), with three levels of adjustment, which is programmed to continuously monitor front and rear wheel speed, engine RPM, throttle position and gear position.

It also has a Bi-directional Quick Shift System, which allows for almost instantaneous up and down shifting, without the need to actuate the clutch.

Another item present in the model is the 32-bit Ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System, which is more accurate.

In addition, the chassis is the same as the GSX-S1000, made of twin-spar aluminium with ruggedly braced aluminium swingarm.

Finally, it has the same large fuel tank as the integral version, with a capacity of 19 liters.

Suzuki officially launched the new 2022 GSX-S1000, its 1000cc ‘naked’ motorcycle, which arrives with a new, sharper and more aggressive design, new technologies and engine improvements.

The main easily identifiable change in the new GSX-S1000 is the new design. Now, it has sharper lines and more defined angles along the entire length of the bike. It is possible to see well-defined angles in the tank, in the rear and in the new side fairings.

Even “wings” derived from the bike used in MotoGP the 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 has. They are small, but they are there, in the side fairings.

Another novelty is the adoption of a new frontal optical set, with LED cannons arranged vertically. The set is in a lower and more inclined position, adopting a true ‘street fighter’ look.

Speaking of lighting, it now becomes Full-LED, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals rely on this technology. Completing the ‘package’, the instrument panel is also new, 100% digital LCD.

Full of technology

The new 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 arrives full of technology, being totally updated and ready to face the competition.

It features the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.), which is the system of riding modes. There are three options available: Active (which releases power and torque more aggressively), Basic (which softens this delivery), and Comfort (as the name says, offers the highest level of comfort, with more ‘docile’ power and torque delivery).

Another safety item is the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), with five levels of adjustment, which is programmed to continuously monitor the speed of the front and rear wheels, engine RPM, throttle position and gear position.

The GSX-S1000 now features Bi-directional Quick Shift System, which allows for almost instantaneous up and down shifting without the need to engage the clutch.

Another new item in the model is the 32-bit Ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System, which is more accurate and precisely controls engine power output in relation to throttle action.

2022 suzuki gsx-s1000

Upgraded and more powerful engine

The 2022 Suzuki GSX-S1000 had its engine updated, mainly to conform to the new Euro5 anti-pollution standard, but even so, it got a little more powerful.

The inline, four-cylinder, 999 cm³ engine with liquid cooling, derived from the super sport GSX-R1000, is now capable of generating up to 152 HP of maximum power at 11,000 rpm, that is, 2 HP more than the previous model. The delivery of power and torque became more linear, especially at low and medium revolutions.

In addition, it has a new exhaust system (Changes include a new layout behind the collector, a new chamber structure, and the addition of a second catalytic converter inside the chamber) and Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS), the slipper clutch which is complemented by a new assist function that increases the clutch’s clamping force under acceleration and thereby allows the use of softer springs, realizes a light touch to clutch lever operation and reduces left hand fatigue in traffic jams or on longer rides.

Finally, the new model has a fuel tank with a larger capacity (19 liters), 23 mm wider grip, performance-tuned suspension, high-performance wheels and tires and a rich lineup of genuine accessories.

Suzuki has announced the launch of the new GSX-S1000, its 1000cc ‘naked’ motorcycle. The model was shown in a teaser video published by the company on YouTube, which you can watch below.

The company also said that the new model will be launched worldwide on April 26.

In the video, it is not possible to see many details of the new bike, but some were visible after processing the image, despite the not very good quality.

In one of the images, you can see that the new Suzuki GSX-S1000 will have its front completely renewed, mainly the front optical, which now has 3 LED cannons for lighting, arranged vertically.

In addition, it is possible to see that the turn signals are also LED, very similar to those used by Honda.

It is also possible to see that the sides have gained new fairings, around the radiator. Apparently, the design has more defined and aggressive angles. The phrase used by Suzuki for the new bike is: “The beauty of naked aggression”, and completed with “It’s ready to strike”.

Another visible item is the inverted front suspension, in golden color.

Anyway, we have to wait for the worldwide launch to have all the technical and design details.

Suzuki announced in Europe the 2021 Burgman 400, its medium displacement scooter, which comes with traction control, dual spark technology and engine compatible with the new Euro5 anti-pollution standard.

A great option for urban use and short trips, the Suzuki Burgman 400 gains one of the main safety items, already available on competitors models: traction control.

The system keeps the scooter under control on slippery surfaces, increasing the rider’s confidence.

Remember that the model is already equipped with the ABS system, which prevents wheels for locking in sudden and emergency braking, guaranteeing an excellent level of safety.

In addition, on the 2021 model, the Burgman 400 gained dual spark technology, meaning there are two spark plugs and a highly atomized injector, which allows for significantly improved combustion, more linear power delivery, improved fuel consumption and less pollutants emissions.

2021 suzuki burgman 400

The engine is a 400 cm³ single cylinder with liquid cooling, capable of generating up to 21.5 kW (28.8 HP) of maximum power at 6,300 rpm and 3.5 kgfm / 35.2Nm of torque at 4,900 rpm.

The company informs that the model is capable of reaching 135 km/h of maximum speed, and that the average fuel consumption (WMTC mode) is 25 km/L.

The fuel tank has a capacity of 13.5 liters, which allows an autonomy of approximately 337 km, considering the average consumption above.

The Suzuki Burgman 400 has a double disc brake and 15″ wheel at the front, LED headlights and taillights, complete instrument panel and space under the seat with 42 liters of capacity.

Anyway, the model can be even more comfortable with accessories such as a larger windshield, rear top case, heated grips and hand protectors (Knuckle covers).

The model is sold in Europe, North America and Asia. The 2021 Burgman 400 comes to the UK in September, and the price is TBC. The 2020 model is sold for £6,599.

Suzuki launched the new 2021 GSX 1300 RR Hayabusa, a model that arrives with new design, engine improvements and new embedded technologies.

The look of the new 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa is new, with new fairings and a new front optical assembly. This one is vertical, with an LED cannon at the bottom. In fact, all lighting is LED, that is, headlights, flashlights and turn signals rely on this technology.

The integrated turn signals positioned at the ends of the front fairing have become more modern, and also work as DRL (daytime running light). At the rear, the turn signals are also integrated into the flashlight.

The side fairings are new, with a redesigned air outlet and the application of a chrome frieze at the edges. There are also highlighted appliques, in gold in the black model, in red in the silver model and in blue in the white model.

Revised engine

The new 2021 Hayabusa maintained the same 4-cylinder inline engine and 1,340 cm³ with liquid cooling, but received improvements, mainly to adapt to the new Euro 5 anti-pollution standards. The power reduced slightly, from 197 HP to 190 HP, and the torque is 15.3 kgfm / 150Nm at 7000 rpm (200 rpm less).

Despite the “shy” numbers (above 200hp was expected), the power and torque curve improved, with low and medium speeds delivering more. With this, the new Hayabusa manages to be a little faster from 0 to 200 meters than the previous model, and reaches the same top speed (299 km / h), in addition to being more economical.

This was only possible with modifications in 550 of 1000 parts, including the crankshaft, pistons, connecting rods, cylinders, camshaft, intake system and even the air box.

New technologies

The new 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa has gained new technologies, including 3 riding modes, 10-way adjustable traction control, anti-lift control, engine brake control, Bi-Directional Quick Shift System, Launch Control, Hill Hold Control and Cruise Control.

The instrument panel is new, with four analog clocks and a new color TFT LCD screen in the center, which displays real-time information such as motorcycle inclination, front and rear brake pressure, acceleration rate and accelerator position.

In addition, it received a new rear swingarm and new front brake calipers (Brembo Stylema).

Finally, the new 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa arrives in three new colors: Glass Sparkle Black / Candy Burnt Gold, Metallic Mat Sword Silver / Candy Daring Red, and Pearl Brilliant White / Metallic Mat Stellar Blue. The price in Germany is 18,500 Euros.

100 years of Suzuki

In 1909, Michio Suzuki founded his company “Suzuki Loom Works” in Hamamatsu, making large looms for the silk industry. On March 15, 1920, it was converted into “Suzuki Loom Manufacturing Company”.

However, Michio Suzuki, anticipating a possible marketing need, then began to focus on the auto industry and in 1952, after World War II, he presented his first motorized bicycle to “Power Free”.

Built for low cost and easy maintenance, it used a 36cc two-stroke engine attached to the frame of a traditional bicycle, facilitating the mobility of the population.
